Peedu Kass
Peedu Kass (EE) will perform at the Viljandi Guitar Festival on October 22.
Peedu Kass is a valued double bass player in the European jazz landscape, who transcends the genre boundaries as a versatile musician. He has collaborated with prominent European and American jazz musicians such as Seamus Blake, Django Bates, Tony Allen, Marilyn Mazur and others. The Peedu Kass Momentum created by him won the Jazz Ensemble of the Year 2017 award and was chosen as the first Estonian jazz ensemble to perform at the world’s largest jazz fair “Jazzahead!”. In addition to his jazz studies, Kass has studied composition with Tõnu Kõrvits and plays in the bands Miljardid, Erki Pärnoja and Anna Kaneelina.
He has composed music for symphony orchestra, big band, television shows and his instrument playing is recorded on more than 30 records. In 2022 he was awarded the title of Jazz Composer of the Year. Outside the larger ensembles, this concert at the Viljandi Puppet Theatre is a unique opportunity to hear Peedu playing alone and opening his musical inner world to the audience.
