Daniel Santiago & Pedro Martins
Pedro Martins & Daniel Santiago (BR) will perform at the Viljandi Guitar Festival on October 22.
Santiago and Martins have been performing together for several years, with Santiago playing acoustic guitar and Martins electric guitar with the addition of mesmerizing wordless vocals. Simbiose, the debut album from the duo, was released in 2017. Simbiose comprises nine original tunes – eight written by Daniel Santiago and one written by Martins. The result is a delightful set of interaction between acoustic and electric guitars. The captivating music contains jazz, classical and Brazilian traditional music elements.
The Brazilian guitar player Pedro Martins (1993) is one of the most promising musicians of the new generation. In 2011, he released his first solo album Dreaming High. His debut album was entirely written and arranged by the young artist himself. In his latest musical endeavour – the album VOX – the Brasília-born artist dreams up a jazz fusion sound infused with deep Brazilian background elements and rock/pop sensibilities.
Daniel Santiago is a composer, guitarist and music producer who for the past 20 years has been an active and key contributor to the Brazilian and world music scenes. Originally from Brazil, Santiago is deeply rooted in the traditional sounds of his homeland, and also cites English rock of the 1970’s and 80’s and the contemporary aesthetic and complexities of modern jazz as major influences upon his unique and diverse musical world. His work is characterised by the development and search for an original sonic language, and a remarkable ability to translate deep, resonant emotion through whichever musical medium he chooses.
The concert will be organized in accordance with the rules applicable to public events during this period. The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the program.
